A Buyer's Broker
In the ’80s I continued my real estate business with added emphasis on three
more activities: Hourly Consulting, Tax Deferred Exchanging, and Buyer
Representation. Together with four others I wrote an Agency Disclosure
document. Our group was instrumental in persuading California to enact
Agency Disclosure based on our model, the first to differentiate in writing
a client from a customer. Most other state Departments of Real Estate now
use our basic disclosure form. In addition to my brokerage activities, I
published and edited the annual national publications, Who’s Who in Creative
Real Estate (1975-1994) and the Buyer’s Broker Registry (1984-1994). I also
wrote a monthly real estate newsletter addressed to my clients. Other brokers
asked me to personalize it for distribution to their clients. For twenty years
my newsletter set a national standard as a personalized investment newsletter.
Recognition
1989: One of three people that year accepted into the national
Exchanger’s Hall of Fame.
1993: Co-authored and self-published a book about seller financing,
Sell Your Property Fast. The book is in its third edition with the
title, Owner Will Carry.
1997: Recognized by the National Association of Exclusive Buyer
Agents (NAEBA) as one of two founding fathers of the national Buyer
Brokerage movement.
Recently I wrote and self-published a fiction
book, M, about my real-life adventures as the owner of a 109-space
mobile home park. Its story is a microcosm of life, and, readers
say, is both funny and poignant.
Schedule
In 2003 I will be doing (so far) two seminars, one in Scottsdale and
one in Las Vegas.
Also, I will be teaching (one night a week) the Real Estate Taxation
and Exchange course at our local Community College.
